Introducing Izzy
I’m Izzy, an 18 year old who loves movement in all its forms- running, cycling, hiking and, of course, Pilates, just to name a few. I truly believe movement should be part of life at every stage. I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 16 and began Pilates to strengthen my back. A few months later, a stress fracture in my hip meant I had to stop all other exercise, and Pilates became the only way I could safely
continue moving. The adaptability and care shown by my instructors during that time inspired me to pursue teaching myself. In Year 11, I completed my Pilates instructor training as part of a research project, where I curated classes for individuals with scoliosis. Since finishing Year 12 in 2025, I have been teaching seated Pilates classes in aged care settings and reformer Pilates at a studio.
What Is Mobility Matters Pilates?
Mobility Matters Pilates is designed specifically for residential aged care settings. The program supports lifestyle and wellbeing teams, care managers in delivering safe, inclusive movement experiences for residents with a wide range of abilities. Classes are suitable for older adults who are independent,
semi-independent, or require seated and supported movement options.
Mobility Matters Pilates delivers structured, mat, reformer, chair-based and fully seated Pilates sessions that focus on functional movement, balance, strength, and mobility. Sessions are adaptable, with layered exercise options to accommodate varying abilities within a group setting. The program is designed
to support daily function, confidence, and ongoing participation in movement.
The Vision
I started Mobility Matters Pilates with a focus on aged care because it’s an environment I’ve been connected to from a young age. Growing up with a dad who owned a nursing home, I spent a lot of time visiting, chatting with residents, and seeing first-hand how important movement is for independence, confidence, and quality of life. That foundation shaped not only where I started, but why I do what I do.
The vision of Mobility Matters Pilates is centred around one core belief: Pilates is for absolutely everyone.
From aged care residents to kids, teens, athletes, and everyone in between, Mobility Matters Pilates aims to remove intimidation, improve accessibility, and make safe, purposeful movement available for all bodies, at every stage of life.
